  •             ola lewczyk’s work is embedded in craft, material research and slavic folklore practices. working primarily with clay, beeswax and collected natural materials, they use craft as a tool to explore the connections between human and the Other. having old slavic tales, customs and artifacts as a base, they look for new mythologies and symbols that draw from natural processes, tacit knowledge and the fluidity of things. working with their hands is a way for them to get closer to the fundamental workings of our materiality and interact with the invisible forces at play. they invest time in getting to know their materials, delving into geology, chemistry, physics, apiculture, while looking for alternative modes of knowledge circulation and production. they continuously move between the grounding and the intangible. in their practice personal symbolism is a medium and touch is a portal.
