(beeswax, textiles, wood, wire, dziewanna plant (verbascum thapsus)
a part of the ‘uroczysko’ series
sculpture is based on a re-written polish folk story connecting the lores of
marzanna (winter goddess) and dziewanna (summer goddess) and joining
them with a marrige union symbolised by korowaj - traditional wedding bread.
basing its structure on christian church elements (altar, communion bread,
candles, holy water stoup), it is an altar for the cycles of nature and lesbian
romance.
Poland doesn’t legally recognize same-sex marriages or civil unions.
